Rajeeb began performing from as early as 9 years and earned his first recognition in the form of the "Junior National Scholarship" followed by the " Senior National Scholarship" in music.

The Prayag Sangeet Samity, Allahabad awarded him gold medals in both "Sangeet Prabhakar" in 1989 and "Sangeet Praveen" in 1991 for his profound understanding of instrumental music and a proficiency in its theoretical aspects.

His talent has been taking him across the globe for more than a decade to Europe, USA and Canada where he has participated in innumerous concerts and major music festivals which include the Bath Festival, Chester Summer Festival, Vienna Festival, and Edinborough Festival to name a few.
He has performed in almost all prestigious classical music concerts in India such as 'The Dover lane Music Conference' Calcutta, 'Sangeet Natak Academy Festival' New Delhi, 'Thyagaraj Festival' Madras, to name a few. His 'melodious executions' have captured the attention of both music lovers and critics and fetched him rave reviews globally. 

Rajeeb and his sister Reena reflect a rare combination and flair as a duo on Sarod and Sitar and have earned recognition all over the world as one of the most successful brother sister pair in North Indian classical music.

Apart from being a regular performing artiste and holding lecture demonstration programmes abroad to his credit we can also include the fact that Dr. Chakraborty has chartered out an impressive career as a composer and a conductor of music and has lent his creativity to a host of films, documentaries, serials, stage plays, music albums, music videos, fusion bands and dance dramas. His association with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and his involvement as a guest composer / conductor for The Leeds Summer Festival 1999 talks about his acceptance globally. His "Khudito Pashan" based on Tagore's story was premiered in the US in 1994 and won the first prize at a national convention.

His compositions at the Leeds summer festival 1999 include 'Indo Jazz', 'Indo Cuban', 'Indo Irish' and 'East West classical orchestra', which brought about a new height to his credentials.
